Whats the point 09/01/2011
I said to myself, “Look, I have increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge.” Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind. For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief. Ecclesiastes 1:16-18 Such words from a man with God given wisdom, can not be taken lightly. This was a man who delighted himself in both the greatest blessings of heaven and the most degrading forms of pleasure on this planet. He was renowned for his wisdom and is scoffed at by the shadows of time. This man though full of folly, still retained the gift God had so graciously granted him and has wisdom to share with us today. King Solomon David's son realized his gift of wisdom was special, but that it was also his down fall. Solomon is one of these people who are never satisfied. They want more and more and more untill finally they reach a point where hopefully they see it never lasts. Solomon declares "(it) is a chasing after the wind". See Solomon understands It does not matter if you gain knowledge, pleasure, money, it is all useless if you dont have God. In the last chapter of Ecclesiastes Solomon writes this "The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil." All people should hear this message and christians need to live it. We as a nation have sought to make ourselves as comfortable as possible in this life. And to add to this statement followers of Christ have also made this mistake. As believers we need to set the example and show our neighbor what is most important in our life and what should be in thiers. I ask you today Are you applying yourself to madness, folly, gain, deceit, pleasure, wealth OR are you seeking and applying yourself to the commandments of God. If we choose to listen to the man who traveled that road and glean from his knowledge we will see which path is sturdy and true and which is the path of the wind. God said in his word that a man will never be dissapointed when he chooses him and his path. Seek first the kingdom of heaven and all these things shall be added to you. " I pray you have been blessed and continue to be blessed by these posts and that God is working in your heart and walk through them. Please Lord show us if we have wondered from your path, guide us and keep us always on the true road. Thank you Father for your wonderfull word and the light it sheds. In the blessed name of JESUS amen" Justdust. Add Comment The way of the Master 08/09/2011
John 2:9-10 When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!” Now we have before us the first recorded miracle in the gospels penned by the diciple John. This seems like a strange way to present yourself to the world even from my perspective(not from God's). But from any major evangelists point of view in the world of today this would be a dumb place, a dumb time and a horrible way to present yourself to the world. Now you may be wondering why im so disturbed by this..... let me explain. FIRST, the town of Cana was tiny. From a Jewish stance this place was insignificant in comparison to the great and mighty holy city of Jerusalem. Cana had no masses, it had no influence and plus it was inhabited mostly by gentiles this would not be the expected place for the coming Messiah to manefest his glory. SECOND, the time he decided to show his glory was not during any major religious celebration or even on a holy day. He came to a weding which by tradittion would have begun on a wensday and then lasted through the week, so it was just another workday nothing real special . Also this place probably was filled with people too drunk to pay attention to much of what was going on. THIRD, he made a holy ceremonial substance the washing water into WINE. OOOMG. How where people supposed to clean themselves now. And what about all the liquor he made, I mean really if im not alowed a simple glass in public why is Jesus making a hundred gallons for a bunch of potential converts. Alright so now we have our modern day and some ancient day objections and reasons for wanting to twist this scripture and add stuff to it, so it can make sense to us. (if you haven't already please read John 2:1- 12 it will help clarify) Now Jesus is not just making wine and helping some friends out of a jam here. Every step Christ took during the days of His earthly ministry had a purpose and a point, Jesus was doing more here then we can ever imagine. Now let me re-explain FIRST He was setting a precedent for His entire ministry and giving us some incite on His character and nature. Jesus came to Cana because he was invited; Jesus always comes to those who invite Him. He visited this tiny insignificant place to ensure us that He was never about coming for the rich and mighty but for all people even those who were counted as outcast or simply as just less then desirable. He came to Cana because he knew he would be recieved. SECOND He chose this time because it was a wedding. Jesus loves us and wants to be a part of every aspect of our lives and as a side note He wants to be invited to be part of your marriages. Jesus came not during some solemn day of observance or some great holy time because it was simply not time for that, Jesus knew when would be the proper time to show himself and begin his ministry and this was it. Jesus knew these people were going to be in need, Jesus knew that an everlasting record of his actions would be written of this, and Jesus knew that after almost thirty years of patiently waiting to reveal himself now was the time. THIRD Christ came to take away our sins right. yes. But first he had to remove our abillity to clean ourselves. Jesus took the cermonial wahing jugs which where a burden and served no real purpose other then giving you a false sense of righteousness and turned them into a substance of joy. Whether or not you beleive this wine was real wine or not, the principle stands that what Christ did here was reveal Himself and His purpose. He came to give us life and that more abundantly. He took away our sins and replaced them with a joy thats unspeakable. The wine is a symbol of joy and I do beleive it was literal wine in the story, but whether or not people where drinking this wine to get drunk I cant verify because we are not told. But I would not count literal drunkness in any comparison as wicked as the abuse of the grace that God has greatly bestowed upon us. The wine is more then just a miracle in this story, it was revealing what Jesus had done away with (the law and works), what it would become (grace through faith) and what it would represent in the coming age, the joy of eternal salvation. (by the way It was Jesus who started the "save the best for last" principle, the master of the cermony couldn't understand this and I believe many of us still don't but thats ok) So please put down the religion and take a sip of the joy that is Christ and then maybe a big gulp because I pray today that you see what God wants to do in your life. Something simple now may have a greater purpose in the end. LORD help us believe that you are at work in us, help us understand the depths of your grace and mercy, and help us to share that knowledge with others. Lord God bless us with the gift of trust as we encounter all that this life throws at us. Jesus thank you for revealing yourself to us through your word, You truly are mighty to save. May Christ be with you always. Amen. Justdust. Who is Jesus 07/24/2011
Hebrews 1:5-11. 5For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father Or again,“I will be his Father, and he will be my Son”? 6And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.” 7In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire.” 8But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom. 9You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” 10He also says,“In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. 11They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment." Sorry about all the colors but I needed to draw a clear distinction between angels and Jesus. Some may ask why? I am sure I know the difference between the angels and Jesus, well good but in case someone ever tells you different (like Jehovah's witnesses and or seventh day adventists) you can have proof to back it up. Here in our text we have God speaking of the angels and also speaking of Jesus the Son. The context opens in the first chapter of Hebrews speaking about Jesus and then for some reason asks this Question (green): to which of the angels did God ever say "today you are MY SON". Answer is...... NONE, God only declares one his Son and that is Jesus. But to answer without a reference is just cliche, so the writer writes about the angels worshiping (only GOD is allowed to be worshiped) the Son born into the world and then gives further example how The Father about the Son Say's " Your throne, O God," (blue). I need to pause because God just called Jesus God. Yeah thats right, Jesus is God according to God who is the only reliable source in these matters(red). So God is Jesus, Jesus is God and no angel can make this claim. So please if someone tells you Jesus was an angel, was created, or any of this other nonsense about Jesus not being God, Please taske them to Hebrews chapter 1 and just start reading. God bless. Lord thank you for being my God so knowable and yet mysterious, you are so much more than I could ever understand or perceive. Father give us courage to defend our faith. To be proud of the real true Son Jesus, and relate to others he and you are the same loving and kind God of the old and the new.Amen Justdust. By the Spirit of Love 07/17/2011
But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the righteousness God has promised to us. For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love. Galatians 5:5-6 (NLT) Did you know living by the Spirit is one of the true marks of a real believer. The Spirit if you notice is capitalized signifying lordship, so living by the spirit is not living by your spirit, but His(God's). Also this is not talking about living BY His Spirit in the sense that only those who live near a church are living by the Spirit, But simply that those who are in a REALationship with God are these people. Now these very same people(us) need to and should be waiting for righteousness, a righteousness promised by God. Oh hold on, I think we missed something, well I did purposefully; we are supposed to be waiting EAGERLY by FAITH. So far you probably think OK I love God, I trust God, I got this down give me something new. Sure. What are you letting God do in your life right now? Eagerly waiting is an active patience that is coupled with hope focused on the fulfillment of a definite promise. It is one thing to make war on your sin and make yourself look and feel righteous, than to trust that God is already doing it. We need not focus on ourselves and our sin but rather place our faith, time, and energy in Jesus and trust that he is already doing it. The word say's that “he who started this Good work is able to complete it” (referring to His work in our lives) meaning just that, that God will complete His work in our lives. This is why the last part of Galatians 5:6 states what is really important and where our focus should be and that is our love, the only thing God ever asked of us. Jesus said the only commandment we needed to obey was “love your God and love your neighbor, in these two all of God's requirements are fulfilled.” So focus on loving God and those around you and Let God do the rest. Dear Lord, please be patient with us as we learn to let you lead. Father we have seen your hand guiding and protecting us and we want to eagerly and patiently wait for your completed work in our lives. Teach us how to love Jesus, just as you do. Amen Jesus is the head. 07/10/2011
"And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church" Ephesians 1:22 (NIV) AS a church we need to see Jesus in this posistion of headship over our congregations, homes, familys and ultimately our lives. The Lord is not willing to share his glory with any man, and yet time and time again we see people putting their wants before Jesus's and in effect beleiving we are greater than he is. I beleive it is high time we stepped out of God's way and let him do his job. I am one of those who beleive that God, knows what he is doing (crazy right) even when things seem to be out of control. When the Father set all things under Jesus's authority I beleive he set another great precedent for us to follow and not forget. Jesus deserves the right to have dominion over all that is because without his sacrifice this life would be pointless, we would live, die, and pass into eternity with a purpopse. But thanks be to Christ who did offer himself up so that we would could enjoy this life and the next. I want to set Christ as the CEO and major stock holder of my soul today. I mean realy could you ask for a better boss then Jesus. Never moody, never freaking out over quotas and deadlines, just absolute peace would emanate from his loving face. This is why I follow the Fathers example and put everything I can under his feet and under his control. I fully trust the man that layed down his life for mine and i hope you will too. Lord I pray you look down on your servants today and have mercy on us. We have failed on many levels but let us never fail again in putting you first. Remind us that we need you in all we do, with your still small voice and your bold faced print. Thank you Father. Amen In the house of God 07/10/2011
As you enter the house of God, keep your ears open and your mouth shut. It is evil to make mindless offerings to God. Ecclesiastes 5:1 Simply said God is not interested in what you have to say. God is most concerned with what your paying attention to, yourself or him. When we come into this world, “me”,is all we know. This by coincidence is also what the world teaches us; look pretty, be hip, stay trendy, stay focused on me and everything will be cool.God is not like this. God in sending his son, to this world to die for our sins, set the highest standard of self sacrifice. The Lord wants you to listen to what he has to say, not because we owe it to him but because he cares about us. In essence he wants your focus on him because it is good for you. Today I ask you, can you make an offering, one not motivated by self, but the absence of it. In the Psalms it say’s “be still and know that I am God”, Ecclesiastes says “stop talking and listen before you speak”. God will put desires in our hearts and love in our mouths, IF we let him. I only pray we learn how to shut up the dying old man and put on the new man. "For who can know the LORD's thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?" But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ." 1 Corinthians 2:16 God, please quiet our hearts silence our lips and teach us your word through your still small voice. We love you and thank you for being our creator, savior and lover. Bless you Lord. Amen. No condemnation 05/04/2011
A New perspective. Romans 8:1 "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." The Law as righteous as it was, was to much for anyone to handle. It did not forgive, relieve, or cure sin but only condemned us for it. Under the Law we were given no promise of heaven or any right to it. In all actuality we were continualy being condemned by it. This is the information needed to understand this verse in it's true context. Paul the writer here of Romans 8:1 was righting to the church of Galatia to correct those who had become enslaved once again by the chains of the Law. The church was once founded on the Grace, Mercy and Love of Christ, but now found it self under judgement by Jewish teachers who had come in to steal away there freedom. Many Jews still felt this way and wanted their old life to be part of thier new one. Paul once being a top pharisee, part of the religious elite sect known as the Sanhedrin, knew very well the shackels of the law and would have nothing to do with them as a way of life. After Paul's conversion on the damascus road he realized that Christ was the only way and after was completely devoted to revealing this to the world. Paul here wrote "thier is no condemnation" which is actualy a legal term for a guilty verdict being handed down, and was conveying that legaly we were free from the law. Christ took the Law and broke it by perfectly fullfiling its every demand and request. It was a Law of works and is now superceded by the Law of spirit. Christ lived in the spirit while here on earth and now serves as the example we should follow. So in understanding and applying this verse, it is simply asking us to walk humbly with our heads up. We are forgiven for our past, present, and future sins, and no man, teacher, pastor, bishop, parent, president, angel, or created thing can say anything about it. "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2. We now seek direct approval and conviction in our daily walks, not through the observance of the law, but as we live by the spirit, being continualy renewed by it. God bless all the faithfull proclaimers of the Gospel. Let us always stay true to the simple yet profound message of the bible. Protect and keep us in these dificult times Lord and grant us the boldness of Paul to stand firm in our beliefs, as the days grow close to your coming. Thank you Father. Amen. Justdust. The Best example 04/16/2011
John 13:1-5 1 “Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. 2 He had loved his disciples to during his ministry on earth, and now loved them to the very end. It was time for supper, and the devil had already prompted Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. 4 So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him." Why was Jesus so humble? Doesn't he know he is the son of God? What is the purpose of him washing his followers’ feet? Doesn't he realize he is about to die? Was he not aware that he was about to be betrayed? These are valid questions. But they only scratch the surface of who God is revealing himself to be. This short passage is a true look into the sovereign ways of our Lord and also a look at how we to are supposed to conduct ourselves; in the conforming of ourselves to Christ. Let us first take the context of this situation into consideration. Jesus had just returned to Jerusalem four days prior, in a triumphant entry, fit for a king. (This is also known as Palm Sunday.) People were praising him as the messiah and finally recognizing him as Son of God. This was a time of glory and honor for Jesus. It was also during the time of the massive Passover celebration of the Jewish people. This was a time where thousands would travel from far to join in the celebration and feasts. And this is no doubt why the disciples had thought they were returning to Jerusalem. With these thoughts taken into consideration let us now examine our first part of the text, "Jesus knew that his hour had come" Crazy right. He knew death was literally around the corner and he was just as peaceful as ever, simply dwelling on the love he had for his friends. This is rarely seen, except for men on death row, or extremely ill persons awaiting their final hours in a hospital bed. Any normal human being, who had the ability to escape death, would definitely defy their grim end and run. Oh friends we all know we would, but not so for our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. He was preparing. He was setting his mind on the outcome of those who were following him. Even when the evil of this world was arraying itself about our God he was simply consumed with love for those he had walked with. We too enjoy this same love from Christ, when we walk with him, and spend time at his feet like Mary in John 12:3. Although we all can experience this love not all of us do, some of us on the other hand choose to be a Judas instead of a Mary. Judas was one of the original twelve disciples, and just so happened to also be the tax collector. In verse two of our text we learn Judas was already preparing in his heart to betray Jesus. We know from chapter fourteen of the gospel of John that it was his love for money that drove him to this point of betrayal. With this being noted, we are once again invited to examine the inner heart of God and to see his love displayed; No doubt Jesus was aware of this very fact and still included him in the fellowship of his last night on earth; To sit, break bread, laugh and most important, to be cleansed. God is so awesome, He would still rather reconcile with you, then to cast you out and forget you. You want to know why... It is because he is above petty things, like money and position. He prefers to humble himself for our sake then to see another soul lost. That folks is the God we serve. And this is also his example to us. That we need to be humble enough to wash the feet of the hand that would betray us; even to death. If we did not know, that this passage was speaking about Jesus, our earthly mind would readily receive it. I mean to say that if this was a servant or even a child, in this position it would make sense. The lower blesses the higher, right, but it is not so in the Kingdom of God. If we now look at rest of our passage from John thirteen, focusing on verse three, you should notice that it's like Jesus remembers (not that he forgot) what his trip down to earth was all about....US! You might say I don't see that anywhere. Well let me show you. In the first half of the verse it says that Jesus "knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God" Right there Jesus thought about when he had given up his Glory in heaven. In the next part of the verse he sees the end result that He "would return to God." There is no way that Jesus didn't see his death in this. Truly Christ was well aware of His rightful position. He knew he was the divine ruler of the universe and that he should be showered with praise, waited on hand and foot, that He should be lifted up above all those before him, but He doesn't does He. No He smiled at the thought of his death, knowing that it would be redeeming the lost and takes it a step further. Verses four and five tell us "So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him." Like it is not enough that he would simply die for us, he humbles himself to the lowest position of the house and washes the dirty feet of his disciples. Which one of us is ready to set aside everything we have achieved and accomplished, all that we deserve, and all that we want; just so someone else can reap all the benefits. Christ did and we should too. Jesus is the pinnacle of perfection. No one can dispute this. He did not love sparingly. He did not boast of his might or power. He was not angry with any ones shortcomings. He never looked down on anyone. He couldn't tell a lie to save his life. He couldn't stand by idle while there were feet to be cleaned. And He did not die in vain. I pray today, that we Stand up and serve our God, because he would serve us, I pray we stand up and serve others because Christ did and I pray most of all that we do it out of love. Amen and God bless. Justdust. Why pray 04/02/2011
Why should I pray? Philippians 4:6-7 Never worry about anything. Instead, in every situation let your petitions be made known to God through prayers and requests, with thanksgiving. Then God's peace, which goes far beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your hearts and minds in union with the Messiah Jesus. (International standard version) Proverbs 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge him(God), and he will make your paths straight. God is so awesome. Seriously. I mean He makes us a planet, He gives us life, He provides for us, and on top of it all He asks us to bug Him with every little issue we encounter. In all senses He truly is our "heavenly Father". His role in our lives has always been that of a mighty protector and an abundant provider, but now we aknowledge Him as our humble friend and counselor. Jesus said "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through Me." And Hebrews 7:25 states in the latter part of the verse that He, being Jesus, is always making intercession on our behalf. Also Isaiah 53:12 say's "He himself bore the sin of many and interceded for the transgressors". You may be wondering: what does this have to do with my prayer life? Jesus our Lord prays for us, right? Yes. And He is the only way to the father, right? Yes. Then why do we, all to often exclude Jesus from our prayers untill the very end.(you know "in Jesus's name, amen") If it seems like I have drifted from the intial subject, please allow me to explain. Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Is why we pray. He is our channel of communication with the one true Holy God of this universe. Jesus prayed often while here on earth, and now prays even more in heaven on our behalf. We pray because Jesus prays. In all things we are to strive to be like Christ, to follow His example whenever possible. We are to be ready for prayer at any given moment. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us we are to pray without ceasing, that is to be continually praying. I can probablly tell you, if you do this or not, by asking a simple question. Do you feel like their is too much to pray about in your nightly prayer, and that their is just not enough time to say all that you want? Well it is most likely, that you neglected to acknowledge God all day and now your trying to make up for lost time. Prayer, in it's most glorious form, creates a constant awareness of God's will for our lives, and at the same time opens us up to the needs of others. Prayer is talking, plain and simple. Although somtimes we plead, beg, and even whine, it is still just a conversation. I would bet that if God was literally walking with you, you would feel that no matter where you were going everything would be just fine. And this is how I bring us to our original scriptures of this study Philippians 4:6-7 and Proverbs 3:6. In combination with all that we have learned, I would like to present a principle to you by defining these verses in light of other scripture. Never worry about anything.Because Jesus is with you and praying for you. Acknowledge God in all you ways, through prayers and requests, with thanksgiving and praise and He will make your paths straight adding peace to your life, which goes far beyond anything you can imagine, guarding your heart and mind in union with the Messiah Jesus. Lord thank you! You alone God have shown us true love by sending your Son to die for us. We want to learn to walk closer with You through prayer. Open us up to the needs of others and show us the path we must follow. Bless You Father for giving us Jesus as an example. Help us to not worry but to live in the peace that only You can provide. Amen. Justdust. Holy Spirit? 03/11/2011
The Holy Spirit: The truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." 1 John 5:7 (KJV) "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." John 14:16-18 (KJV) "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26 (KJV) Why are there so many people afraid of the Holy Spirit? Why is it when the Spirit is moving, people decide it is time to leave the church? Why is that people don't feel the need to be filled with the spirit? I believe there is one answer that can satisfy these questions and more. The Spirit has been misconstrued, misunderstood, and most of all misrepresented. The Spirit is a he.(Jhn. 14:26) He is God.(1Jhn.5:7) He lives within all believers.(Jhn 14:18) If these things be true, then why are so many afraid of all the things He does. Because these things are done in His name, but they are not done by him. For instance the man who BoughtaHondaButShouldaBoughtAhundai.(if said very fast it sounds like some who say they are speaking in tounges) These people often repeat the same words repeatedly, and toss in a couple new vouls each time around to add a little variety. Sorry I dont buy it. God does not want you to speak like this. It is a heavenly language, with a vast amount of words that don't have to be repeated. Try this, flip on the t.v. turn it to a channel with a language you don't understand, and see if it sounds like they are saying the same thing over and over again. It doesn't does it. But it is a true gift and when used properly i do not believe it will scare people away. Another instance of this type of misrepresentation, are the so called miracle workers. These people most often are after money. They draw much attention to themselves, they do very strange things in front of large gatherings and neglect the word of God for the most part. God does heal and do miraculous things, but they are for His glory not ours. Though many people are healed at these type of events, it does not mean everything is being done according to scripture. These people are healed according to their faith. There was a woman once, who touched Jesus's garment and was healed instantly. Jesus told this woman: Your Faith has made you well. It was her faith and it is our faith in God, that makes us well. God will heal those who believe, and rebuke those who think they are the ones doing the healing. The true work of the Spirit is a changed life. The person who walks in newness of life and not after his own desires is the greatest miracle. The Spirit convicts us when we do wrong, and gives us strenghth to do what is right. The Holy Spirit makes constant prayer on our behalf and helps us pray when we dont know what to say. We need to embrace everything that God wants for us. The spirit has many gifts for us and and it is time we put them to use. God i pray that we may be filled with your holy presence, that we learn our gifts and use them. Father I ask that we never grieve your spirit again willingly. Lord we only want what is true and real to touch our lives and change us. Thank you Lord for being our God, for showing us mercy, and blessing our lives.AMEN. Justdust. |
